I know The Fall 1 is riddled with bugs and exploits and is kind of traveling a bumby road. I know it could be presented in a far better manner and done better. Hence, why I started The Fall 2. I hope to fix to flaws of The Fall 1 while adding a ton of new features. I am working on it as fast as I can while maintaining quality and my goal for it as to not comprimise quality. I just hope The Fall 1 can hold on as a game until I roll out The Fall and we travel on our merry little way, so please bear with us while we work on a better Fall, for all of us. Yet again I screwed something up and a wonderful bug reared its ugly head. Earlier today I was asked about the bug in question. I misunderstood what was asked and told the person who asked me it was by design and ok to use it. So for that, they will not be punished. Fault lay with me and not them. The bug has since been fixed. You are no longer able to gift military and everything resorts to an attack. It has come to my attention that several players are not too thrilled with the recent plot developments. It has been my intent since the start of this game to have the plot affect what goes on ingame, and the politics and what goes on ingame affect the plot. Alteron has written and worked on a general plot path for sometime now. It is quiet indepth and a very good story I might add. This game is not meant to be like another LunarWars or Cybernations that runs on pure politics. The plot, politics, and game are all intertwined. From now on, your planet and alliance ingame are not immune from the plot. What happens in the plot can and probably will affect your planet in some way or another. It will be slow at first, but pick up as we draw near The Fall 2, and ultimitly, when The Fall 2 is released the plot will actually be coded ingame in a manner of speaking and even more intertwined. Factions will no longer be these untouchable capital worlds either that seem immunue from player interaction. You will be able to affect them just as much as you can another planet. So don't worry, it won't be Alteron and I up high above the game pulling the strings in the factions. What happens with regards to faction will depend on your actions or inaction. I realize some people may not like the fact that they will be held at the whim of the plot so to speak, but this is just the type of game it is. You may leave if you wish, you don't have to play the game, but I would hope you stay and enjoy the ride and story Alteron has made. And also, for those who have donated. I know some of you have donated quite a bit, but you donated to support the game, the bonus is just a small gift in return. You are just as vunerable as everyone else. If you do not like that fact, you do not have to donate again, but no refunds will be made. Though remember, players drive the plot too, so try and shape it how you want it to turn out, you are all players in this universe, you all have a roll to fullfill as leaders of alliances and planets, make the best of the plot and don't feel devestated if genocide is commited against your planet. Just rebuild from the ashes and try and seek revenge upon those that destroyed you. So take this as a fair warning. If you don't like it get out now. Faction leaders could declare open season on a rouge member alliance. Alliances can force a coup on the faction or perhaps change faction policy through peacefull means. The possibilities are endless for alliance, faction, and planetary interaction. Just be ready and expecting anything and everything to happen.

You may or may not have heard, but for the past few months I have been working on a massive update for The Fall. Many many many new features and some mechanics changes. It'll hopefully be code complete by the end of the month with a public beta to iron out bugs and all that for the month of October.

I've changed it so that the bonus to your growth rate provided by civil services is applied after your next collection instead of at purchase.

Just putting it out there that donations have completly stopped since I changed the bonus. Alteron's savings will be gone soon, and after that he cannot pay towards the server, so I will be left with the full burden. I cannot afford the full server myself anymore every month. While what I made from donations this month combined with what I can pay may be enough for August's server bill, if donations do not pick up again, I will be unable to pay the server in September and every month thereafter, so it will have to be shut off, which I would hate to see happen. So, I ask you, if you like the game, please donate so it can keep running, not because your planet gets a bonus. Thanks.

I've tweaked the strength forumla again, it now includes some more things. I've also played around with donations a bit. I can't decide how much transportation to give per $1. I want it between 2 and 5, but I can't make up my mind, let me know what you think. It is at 5 for now.

Users are now able to choose between a dark and a light theme. They can change their choice on the settings page.

Alliance admins can now cancel aid reuqests. To do so click cancel next to the request on the alliance admin aid page.

I have changed the donation bonus. Now, for every $1 you donate, you will get 5 transportation infrastructure.

I have done some extensive reworking of the faction bonuses. They are retroactive, but your planets are as they are now just as they would have been if you started with the reworked numbers from the onset.

I have brought back the strength range for war. The target must be within half or double your strength. The strength forumla has also been tweeked slightly, as with the faction bonuses.

I have halved the waiting period for era jumping. In the itnerim while I look into an interalliance aid system, I will manually transfer funds between alliance treasuries within the same faction if you send me a request. Include the alliance from which to take the money, the alliance to which the money is going, and the amount.

Aid requests can now only be filled by a person within one era of the requester. The max aid amount is reduced. And finally there is a waiting period between era jumps.

The Fall will now play host to a Halo Custom Edition server. If you have Halo Custom Edition installed, please join us for the occasional game. However, your game needs to remain unpatched for now. The latest patch breaks some custom maps we like to play. By default, we are always on Coldsnap, but we are open to requests for maps. The server ip is and the password is thefall. Please use direct ip to join. If I am present in the server, I will give a tiny ingame bonus to the winner of each round.

I've got some good ideas as to what happened last night. In the mean time I have compensated everyones planets a few days worth of stuff to make up for the few lost days since the first reset. As soon as paypal will tell me my account history, I will be reapplying all the donation bonuses.

If you donated to The Fall before the reset, your old bonus will be applied in the coming days. Also, we do have quite an active IRC channel that I am on almost all day long at #TheFall on coldfront. Please join us, and watch out for weeble and Bogle.

If you come across a planet that is broken, as in you get a bug when trying to view it, send a pm to John Mikhailovich ingame with the planet name and whether it was the ground or space theater. That is all I need to know. Please do not post this bug on the forums.

It has come to my attention that certain members of a certain alliance have been exploiting the game. The exploit allowed a player to attack someone a near infinite amount of times within a very short period. So, if you were attacked more than 10 times in 20 minutes please message me in game and I will compensate you accordingly. As for the people who exploited the game, when I find out who you all are, your planet will most likely be reset, or be made a target for the faction capitals.

You can now merge alliances. To do so goto the details view on the alliance admin page. The alliance admin the clicks merge will merge into the alliance he or she typed thus losing his or her position as leader. The allianes must be open and in the same faction to merge.

Apparently I wrote a line of code to the effect that if you steal money in war, it takes away that money. Why I wrote that I have no idea, but it is gone now, so you can now steal money when attacking or raiding someone.

War is now a lot cheaper. These amounts hold true for any type of action per unit. $100 for battleships, $5, for fighters, $2 for MBTs, and $0.1 for infantry. Turns also reset every 20 minutes.

I've made it so that alliance leaders can change the faction of their alliance without penelty. However, the entire alliance will change factions, so make sure to discuss it beforehand. You will find the button on the edit details page of the alliance administration page.

Guess it's that time for our first ever donation drive; server's are not cheap you know. For the rest of the month of July any donation will be rewared with double the regular bonus.

Sorry for the delay in fixing all sorts of bugs, I've fixed most of what was posted in the forums, and replied asking for more infomation for the rest. Real life needed me forawhile and I forgot to post such anywhere except IRC. I don't plan on leaving again, so keep posting the bugs.

You can now send a PM to multiple people at once. Simply seperate the usernames to which you wish to send the PM by a comma.

I have changed PM notifications. When you have a new PM, the link is read and displays the number of new messages next to it. I also changed the way maximum aid to request is calculated. $50 per person on your planet multiplied by your era. I also implemented alliance mass messaging. Only alliance admins can do it and it is accessible from the administration page. An alliance PM is automatically sent when a new thread on the message board is created or a vote is started. Finally I added the ability to delete PMs.

Buying military units now costs population. You will get the population back if you sell the military unit. Infantry and fighters both cost 1 person. MBTs cost 5 and battleships cost 500. I also think I have fixed the alliance join bug.

I made it so that in order to destroy a planet, you need 250,000 infantry multiplied by the defenders era stationed on the planet.

Something went wrong in the database with infantry, I am not sure what. So instead of wiping out all military, I removed all military except for that which was deploy and gave everyone 2,500 infantry, 10 fighters, and 10,000 dollars ingame.

Guess I forgot to put here I changed max buyable infrastructure to 25. So, I changed it so you can only buy 25 infrastructure at a time. Sorry.

I have added the ability to raid in the ground theater. Whenever you click an empty square next to one of your armies, the option to raid will appear. In a raid you can destroy money, people, and infrastructure of the players planet you are on for a cost. I have also made it so you may only perform five military actions per hour. They automatically reset every hour.

I have changed around donation and referal bonuses. I also changed the equation for maximum amount of aid and have lowered maximum stacked collections to 15. Numerous bugs have also been fixed.

I reduced the benifit that the transportation upgrade gives you. For the select few that already bought the upgrade, that is why your income went down.

I've implemented BBCode in various places throughout the game. Available tags are [i], [u], [b], [s], [br], [code], [img], [quote], [center], [left], [right], [color=], [size=], and [url=]. If there is any abuse of any of the tags, especially url and img, I will not hesitate to remove them.
